National Children's Mental Health Awarenes Day

National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day Planning Notebook

National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day will be a day for SAMHSA and the communities and grantees it supports to promote resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth with serious mental health needs and their families. National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day will raise awareness of children’s mental health issues, demonstrate how systems of care promote recovery and resilience, and show how systems of care are an effective strategy for transforming the children’s mental health service delivery systems across the country. Like last year’s highly successful National Children’s Mental Health Day pilot program, celebrated by nearly two-thirds of system of care communities, National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day will be driven by local participation.

To help you plan your community’s activities, the Caring for Every Child’s Mental Health Campaign has prepared the National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day Planning Notebook. It is a technical assistance tool that contains tips, resources, and ideas to help you shape your National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day activities, as well as a CD-ROM that includes fact sheets, drop-in articles, public service announcements, and other materials. We encourage you to customize these materials to meet the needs of your community and audiences.

These draft materials are made available so that you can provide feedback to inform future National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day materials. To provide feedback, please contact your Social Marketing/Communications Technical Assistance Provider:

Juanita Panlener (Region 1 & 2)

Clarice Leslie (Region 3)

Jane Tobler (Region 4)

Leah Holmes-Bonilla (Region 5 & 6)

Because of file size issues, we recommend that you download the kit one section at a time. Only a few of the kit’s components can be downloaded individually. In addition, the planning notebook is currently available in English only; the Spanish planning notebook is in production and will be available soon.
