Galvin Electricity Initiative — An Electric Revolution
The Galvin Electricity Initiative works to transform our nation’s power system into a resource we can all rely on. To a large degree, the Initiative engages policy and industry leaders, but for a broader decision-making audience, Vanguard produced the award-winning digest “An Electric Revolution: Reforming Monopolies, Reinventing the Grid and Giving Power to the People.” The narrative follows the evolution of the electric grid and the promise it holds to meet consumers’ needs in the 21st century, while the highlighted visuals — light bulbs created out of various common objects — reinforces the theme of electricity transformation.

Campaign for High School Equity — Huffington Post Op-Ed
Just days before the critical 2010 mid-term elections, Vanguard drafted an op-ed for the Campaign for High School Equity that contrasted the enormous amounts of cash that our country spends on campaign advertising with the enormous benefits such an investment can yield in education. Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center on Human Needs’ Project on Societal Distress — Issue Snapshots
Translating data points into compelling graphics for an issue brief series was Vanguard’s task for Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center on Human Needs’ Project on Societal Distress. The goal of the snapshots was to create an eye-catching and interesting representation of complex data points relating to food security, housing, income, health care and education. Our approach was to communicate these points by showing a negative; for example, by showing peas missing from a plate (food security) and golf balls absent from tees (health care/retirement), audiences understood that some Americans are lacking in critical measures of well-being.
