YOU are Invited to SAMHSA’s Prevention Day 2018!

You are invited to attend the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) 14th Annual Prevention Day, “The Power of Prevention: Applying the Past, Navigating the Future,” hosted in partnership with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s (CADCA) 28th Annual National Leadership Forum on Monday, February 5, 2018.

Prevention Day will bring together a dynamic group of practitioners, community leaders, researchers and consumers in the behavioral health field who are committed to creating healthier communities through the power of prevention. Prevention Day attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge by participating in training sessions, workshops and plenary sessions.

This year, SAMHSA is unveiling its Prevention Action Center at Prevention Day. The Prevention Action Center will be an interactive space for fun, prevention-related activities, such as taking a photo with custom-made prevention emojis. You also will be able to browse resources on underage drinking prevention, prescription drug misuse and suicide prevention.

Prevention Day also will kick off SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week (NPW), an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, substance use disorders and the promotion of positive mental health.

As February 5th approaches, below are five ways to support SAMHSA’s Prevention Day:

  1. Register to attend the event.
  2. Follow #PreventionDay on Twitter.
  3. Share this event with someone who might be interested in coming with you.
  4. Stop by the Prevention Action Center to explore SAMHSA’s latest prevention resources to inspire your community efforts.
  5. If you can’t join Prevention Day in-person, tune into the live webcast at 3 p.m. EST to watch the NPW kick-off and learn how you can participate in NPW 2018.

Participating in events like SAMHSA’s Prevention Day and NPW is a great way to take action today for a healthier tomorrow!
