Helping the Public Understand the Mind/Body Connection
The impact of stress on an individual’s mental and physical health cannot be overstated, and APA educates the public about this impact through its Mind/Body Health Campaign. Every year, Vanguard collaborates with APA to design the Stress in America survey, a centerpiece of the campaign that requires integrated media strategy, media outreach and story placement, digital content, and the development of collateral materials to help APA educate the public about the implications of stress on the nation’s health. Our promotion efforts result in approximately 1,500 media stories each year, including hundreds of interviews and quotes by psychologists who share insights about stress management and behavior change. Our mini report about 2016 election stress garnered more than 4,000 earned media placements over the course of two months.
